NEW DELHI: According to sources, Team India skipper M S Dhoni, Bollywood stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Akshay Kumar are among celebrities who have been chosen for the prestigious Padma awards.
Sources suggest that M S Dhoni, spinner Harbhajan Singh, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Akshay Kumar, Helen, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Penaz Masani, Udit Narayan figure in this year's Padma Shri list.
Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission Anil Kakodkar, noted environmentalist Sunderlal Bahuguna and Ashok S Ganguly, a member of the PM's Council on Trade and Industry as well as Investment Commission has been chosen for the Padma Vibhushan, sources said.
ISRO chief G Madhavan Nair and sister Nirmala of Kolkata-based Missionaries of Charities have reportedly been chosen for the honour.
Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra, technocrat Sam Pitroda, journalist Shekhar Gupta and Lt Gen Satish Nambiar are among Padma Bhushan awardees, sources said.
